December 3, 2026 Valparaiso High School 5:45 pm - 7:00 pm

All CTE programs will be gathered at one location: Valparaiso High School.
5:45–6:00 p.m. | CTE Information Session
The evening will begin with a brief informational session in the Valparaiso High School Auditorium. We will introduce Porter County CTE and share important information about our programs and opportunities.
6:00–7:00 p.m. | Career Fair-Style Open House
Following the information session, families can explore our CTE programs at their own pace. Teachers will be stationed at tables in the VHS Cafeteria, allowing students and parents/guardians to walk around, ask questions, and speak directly with teachers about the programs that interest them.
Application Information:
Applications are open November 1, 2026 for programs for the 2027-2028 school year. Please come to an open house prior to applying so you know what you are applying for!!

Students in Wheeler High School's dual credit Earth/Space Science classes spent the day exploring the geologic history of the NWI region. They examined landforms created during the last ice age such as kettle lakes and moraines, and explored 4,000-15,000 year-old dunes/shorelines created when Lake Michigan was higher than it is today.
Mr. Hanaway's class worked on communication tactics today! Without using words, students were tasked with building a tower out of marshmallows and noodles. Great use of creativity to get the lesson done!
Our UCE Music room has transformed into a keyboard lab! Students in all grades are decoding rhythms, finger numbers, and pitches-even kindergarten! Music is unique in that it uses both sides of the brain to accomplish these skills. We are growing our brains in Music!

Ms. Melton's kindergartners review letter recognition and sounds while also practicing their fine motor skills. They use magnet boards and hole punches to practice. She also challenges Maxx to think of what letters spell out the sounds in "box".
