Once again, our WHS Academic Teams came through with an exemplary performance at the WHS Area Academic Super Bowl Tuesday evening.  

The Fine Arts team placed third.

Our Social Studies team came in second.

Special congratulations go out to our THREE first place teams...Math, Science, and English!

The 2026 Indiana Academic Super Bowl is about to kick off! Students from across Porter County are gearing up for an exciting evening of competition, teamwork, and academic excellence. A special thank you to Mr. Kenning for your leadership, and to all of our academic coaches for the time, dedication, and support you provide our students. Good luck to all—and go Bearcats!

Voices of the future! Last week, students stepped up to the podium at the school board meeting. Whether they were being recognized for excellence or sharing their classroom experiences, these Bearcats proved that leadership starts right here at UTSC. We love seeing our students take an active role in our school community!

UTSC STEM Outreach Opportunity: come check out the sky this evening!  Valparaiso Universiy is hosting a public open house tonight (Friday, April 17) from 8:30 - 9:30 PM . VU astronomers will remotely operate a telescope on a mountain in Chile.  This can be viewed in a lecture hall  on campus.  Google Maps Location "Neils Science Center".  Room 224 (near main entrance).  

This week, WHS Physics students are studying electricity and electrical circuits, and putting their knowledge into practice by building a soldering kit.

Our UCE PTO Spring Fling is filled with lots of fun- face painting, caricatures, Book Fair, food trucks, and an amazing magic show! We are here until 7:00, so come on out!

Our UTSC Art Show is in full swing at WHS! Our Bearcat artists have hundreds of pieces of art on display and are enjoy tasty treats (THANK YOU, UCE and JSE PTOs!) and crafts. The event goes on until 7:30- come on out! #BearcatPride

UPDATE: Due to cloudy conditions in Valparaiso and a bad internet connection in Chile, the Valparaiso University observatory events are canceled for this evening, Friday, April 11th.

Each month, the Valpo Noon Kiwanis features student(s) from the local Key Clubs that they sponsor and this month was Wheeler High School's turn. Key Club officer Sophia Rodriquez spoke about the different service projects the club did this year such as collecting gravy packets for the 500 Turkeys Organization, raising $700 during the Miracle Minute for Riley's Children's Hospital, helping the staff at VU during and after a basketball game, hosting a coat drive and donating them to Clothes and Prayers in Valpo, and currently organizing a Color Run/Walk on May 9th to raise money for Riley Children's Hospital. She also highlighted her personal achievements and the different clubs and sports she is involved in such as being a cheerleader, a member of the tennis team, and being recently invited to be inducted to NHS. Thank you Sophia for representing all the hard work Key Club does for our school and community.

The Wheeler High School Key Club is sponsoring a fun day of color and memories with our first Color My World 3 / 5 k run/walk on Saturday, May 9th. It is a non-competitive race for all ages. Proceeds will benefit Riley's Children's Hospital and other community service projects. Register by scanning the QR codes on the flyer or go directly to the race website by clicking on the link.
