A special night at the softball field as we honored the incredible educators who’ve made a lasting impact on our players’ lives!
Last week, each Bearcat invited a teacher who has shaped their journey to join us for Teacher Appreciation Night—and presented them with a jersey to proudly wear.
Tonight, our educators showed off their skills by throwing out the first pitch! We’re so grateful for the dedication, inspiration, and heart our educators bring every day. Thank you for being such an important part of our students’ lives—on and off the field. #BearcatPride

UTMS’s Academic Team met today at Barnes & Noble to prepare for this weekend’s Academic Super Bowl. I love their dedication as they get ready for the competition! Ms. Lucas was there helping them study and prepare.
The energy was awesome, and the Bearcat spirit was strong! They’re ready to show what they can do!

Mrs. Koch's class had their Kindergarten Koffeehouse Friday. Each student went up to showcase their skills & talents to parents. Thank you, Mrs. Koch, for showcasing students, inspiring creativity, & providing a safe space to be brave! #BearcatPride #youarelovedatJSE

Consider being a stem cell donor!
In conjunction with the WHS blood drive Thursday, April 17 from 7:30 AM to 1:30 PM, we are also holding a National Marrow Donor Program "Be The Match" Drive. Students/adults age 18-40 have the opportunity to complete a cheek swab and have their genetic code entered into a database. If at some point in the future you are a match for a patient in need of a stem cell transplant, you will commit to a minor outpatient procedure to donate to a patient in need. To learn more and/or sign up for the registry: show up at the table at the blood drive, text "Wheeler" to 61474, or sign up for a cheek swab kit by mail at:
https://my.nmdp.org/Wheeler
My personal story and the reason I support these drives:
If you didn't know, my wife Tammy Kenning nearly lost her life to leukemia. To keep her alive required approximately 100 pints of blood (it would be nice to help replenish the blood supply a bit at the blood drive!). In addition, a 34-year-old "Be The Match" stem cell donor from Germany donated to my wife in May of 2016. This ultimately saved her life and has allowed the leukemia to remain in remission ever since. After a lengthy time off she is doing well and is still here with me and our three boys. She has also gotten back into the career she loves and is currently a guidance counselor at Boone Grove Elementary/Middle School.

A cross-curricular band/physics lesson? It happened this week at Wheeler HS! Students from both classes worked together to understand the properties of sound waves and the science behind how their instruments work.
