MATH BOWL

Math Bowl is an academic team designed to stretch and challenge students’ math skills. Fourth- and fifth-grade students who show a love for math are invited to be on the team. During practices, students work together to solve sample problems focused on number sense, computation, algebra, geometry, measurement, data analysis, statistics, and probability. While all standards are free game, there is a content focus for each year’s competition.

At the April competition, teammates work together in a small group to solve 8 multiple choice questions. The questions are timed, and the team members have 30, 45, or 60 seconds to answer each question, depending on the level of difficulty. There are four rounds of questions.

Math Bowl is a terrific opportunity for students to learn more than they would in the classroom and collaborate with peers! The 2023 MATH Bowl competition will be held on Tuesday, April 11 at 5:30 PM at Portage High School. A student-interest meeting will be held in December, and team practices will begin in January. Practices will be held before school hours.
